your mother says goodnight and you wait for her footsteps to subside. the curtains call your name, sheer fluttering waterfalls. you hop out of bed into the uproar! the fleeting murmur of moths’ wings teases your nose and down the splitting tree you crawl eager to escape that monotonous drawl your stuffed giraffe drunk on the floor hurry, the curtains whisper. or else you will never leave, you’ll end up rotting in that scary closet. you chew your nails when that cracked door is knocking and a figure rushes into the blue. you split the curtains and she is falling.
